---HALL OF FAME ART SHOW OPENS IN MEDORA---
A major art show featuring 13 North Dakota artists officially opens at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (NDCHF) in Medora on Memorial Day Weekend. The artists, 12 painters and a sculptor will have their works on exhibit and for sale all summer.
NDCHF Executive Director Darrell Dorgan says the show and sale includes original works by Gary P. Miller of Bismarck, Kaye Burian of Manning, Walter Piehl Jr. of Minot, Sheila Rieman of Sentinel Butte, David Christy of Fargo, Andy Knudson of Towner, Wayne Pruse of Bismarck, Vern Erickson of Bismarck, Monte Yellow Bird of Devils Lake, sculptor Arnie Addicot of Stanley, Marsha Lehmann of Bowman, Scott Nelson and Bert Caulkings, a North Dakota native now living in New Mexico.
Dorgan says the artists are some of the best North Dakota has to offer and most have gained national recognition for their works. “The 12 original paintings and 2 pieces of sculpture are on display in the Hall of Fame’s changing gallery, and they are for sale. The artists also have special prints of their works, which are on sale this summer,” he said.
The Hall of Fame will hold a special reception and brunch for the artists and others interested in viewing the show on Sunday, May 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. MT in Medora. The reception is open to the public.
The Hall of Fame Wild West Art Show will run for the entire summer, but the reception and opening are in conjunction with Medora’s annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering that will be held Memorial Day Weekend.
The Poetry Gathering begins Saturday, May 26, at with performances at 1:00 p.m. at the Medora Community Center. Performances continue at 7:30 Saturday evening and on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:30. There will also be a Sunday evening show at 7:30.
Poetry gathering officials say they expect about 40 performers from several states at this year’s event.
Anyone wanting additional information about the art show and sale can call the Hall of Fame in Bismarck (701-250-1833) or the Center of Western Heritage and Cultures in Medora (701-623-2000). Information is also posted on the NDCHF website at www.northdakotacowboy.com.
