Cloverdale and Cowboy Hall of Fame team up again
Cloverdale and Cowboy Hall of Fame team up again
Mandan's Cloverdale Foods and the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame have again joined forces to bring another locally-produced food product to the market and raise money for the Hall of Fame. Last year Cloverdale teamed up with the Hall of Fame and produced a 100% premium beef frank. The Cowboy Hall of Fame frank quickly gained acceptance and resulted in more than $15,000 in royalties for the Medora project.
The new all-beef product - a hickory smoked beef sausage - is produced at Cloverdale's Mandan plant and again will be marketed throughout a five state area with the help of the Cowboy Hall of Fame. The premium sausage can be recognized by its unique yellow and orange Cloverdale brand label along with the logo from the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. Cloverdale President T.J. Russell says, "This is a partnership that's working. We're taking a North Dakota product, adding value to it through processing and using the profits to promote the preservation of North Dakota heritage and history. We're also creating jobs and a market for North Dakota beef."
North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame Executive Director Darrell Dorgan says that partnership with Cloverdale is, "a shining example of what a local company can do to improve our quality of life. When asked, they jumped at the chance to produce a high-quality beef frank. Cowboy Hall of Fame Trustees help with in-store market demonstrations, and we get a great royalty check that will help build a center of western heritage and culture."
Dorgan says Cloverdale's involvement with the Hall of Fame project goes beyond beef franks and sausage. "T.J. Russell is a co-chair of our Capital Fundraising Drive. In that capacity T.J., the Russell Family and Cloverdale have pledged a five-year $250,000 financial package for use to complete the Medora based facility. Their support has been astounding! Cloverdale is a great company that cares about North Dakota, our history and improving our economy. One thousand Cowboy Hall of Fame members buy Cloverdale products and we hope everyone else will, too."
The new sausage will go on the market this week and again royalties will go to the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has financial commitments of $2 million and a building site in the city of Medora. Construction will begin once there are $3 million in commitments. Dorgan is hopeful that groundbreaking can get underway within a few months so the facility will be open in time for the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 2004.
The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, founded in 1995, is dedicated to preserving the heritage and western lifestyles of North Dakota. The 15,000 square-foot facility will celebrate and preserve the plain's culture. A Hall of Honorees within the Hall of Fame will feature inductees who have made significant contributions to North Dakota. So far, 56 individuals, events and animals have been inducted.
Cloverdale Foods, a market leader for its ham, bacon, franks and sausage products, is based in Mandan, ND. The 88-year-old meat company serves quality products to customers across the Midwest. Cloverdale produces over 30 million pounds of processed meats on an annual basis and employs over 300 people within the local and surrounding communities. On an annual basis, Cloverdale invests over a half million dollars back into the community to fund civic and charitable events.
